About easy money from mini sites and the lies people tell you
By MikeJones76
After reflecting for a while, trying to figure out whether I should create a hub about it or not, I decided it was about time someone would up out and say what seems to be on a lot of people's minds by now. The lies people will tell you, regarding online money making with articles and mini websites.
Allow me to explain. For starters, I won't even ask, becuse I am sure you already faced one of those sites, that offers you things like:
Do you know what kind of site I'm talking about?
See results without voting- make money online
- with zero to no effort
- assure a passive income
- make hundreds of dollars a week
- almost no investment
Well, if on one hand I'm pretty sure you have questioned yourself if it was real, on the other hand, I know that if your a critical person, the idea of some truth of this offers never even crossed you mind.
Well, I am a critical person, but I must confess I bought this idea for a short period. That's why I created this hub, after all. To prevent YOU from spending valuable time trying to accomplish that.
The idea
I have a friend who was taken by this idea of developing a mini site, and taking his chance on the web. Well, is so happens that this friend does not speak english very well (at least not as well as I do), so he managed to drag me in to this idea. I said "why not?".

Making it real
Long story short, we found a cms (wordpress), an adsense theme (heatmap), got a webhost (arvixe), and bought a domain (small-business-debt-consolidation.info).
Ok, ok. Some will say Wordpress is not the ideal CMS, some will say MFA sites don't work like they used to, some will sai the niche we chose has huge competition, so we aimed too high for a couple of newbies. On that argument, I'd like to point a fact that I think will come in handy later: Take a look at the hyphens our URL had. You see, that was the only one available. I mean, where are the other ones? Not on Google's PR, for sure!
That is why the only argument I take is the last, since the other three are just too controversial.
I wouldn't ask you to take a look at our site, since this could sound as self-promoting. Instead, I put a WebShot to the right, so you can check it here.
Now for the results: Nothing. It's been up for more than a month, and it's like it's not even indexed by google. Not one single hit coming from SERPs.
Wait, don't ask: It has some low quality backlinks, and that's all. In a link:siteurl search, it shows no links at all. What did I expect, now you may ask. Something. Something at all.
Except when we look it up, you simply can't see him on google, like it didn't exist. To find it, one must type the exact internet address in the search field. This serves to nothing but showing how freaking hard it is to get a position at Google. This keyword has some 2 million queries a month, but still, Google has only some 40 position someone can profit from, depending only of organic searches. Barely impossible.
The moment of truth
So I got curious and started to browse for sites owned by some of those so called SEO gurus on the internet, and my perceptions were sad, because as their blogs do have a lot of hits and quality backlinks, some of the site they mention as their own simply don't show at a google search, for example. At least not until the 5th page (but then again, what would you do with a result beyond that). I'm not revealing the sites I'm talkling about, for ethical reasons. If they don't follow it, at least I will. But I digress.
There are sites that in the same link:siteurl search don't show up any links, as well. So, no linking.
The worst part is that those guys (the modest ones) claim these very same sites have some 100+ hits a month (wich I see as low, but enough for making a few 10 bucks - wich seems to be the objective of a mini site). Now my question is: HOW? Because these sites don't show up in the big G, nor in Bing or Altavista (and who queries altavista?).
My conclusion? They don't. They simply don't.
"Wait a second! Are you calling they liars?" - Not exactly. They're marketers. They say their sites make them $1000+, but they actually don't. Their blogs, maybe - through affiliate links, to sell YOU webhosting space, domain names, keyword evaluation sites subscriptions, and so on. As marketers, they're selling you a dream, like 99.8% of marketers do.
Just to prove my point, let's get back to the facts checklist:
- They say "use wordpress" (check)
- They say "provide original, optimized content" (check)
- They say "get a keyword rich url" (check)
- They say "get some backlinks" (poorly done - but so are theirs)
Final result: Ours don't show up in Google. And neither do theirs! How come they are making thousands? Come'on, guys... And they are conveniently forbiden to open give out their numbers, by Google AdSense TOS, so don't expect some black and white explanations so soon. I know AdSense is not the only way to make money online, but how can you make it, if you have no backlinks, your site don't rank, you you don't have a type-in domain? Hmmm...
Yeah, right!
Sure there are people out there making money with crappy sites, talking about things they don't know, with very little effort. But you bet they put money in it, and they won't tell you how to really do it. Ever heard that saying "those who can't do teach"? Well, it's something like that.
Take a good like at the dude bellow. Watch this movie. Now tell, me: Does he look like somebody who makes $100 a day? Oh, boy. Really, I tried to be polite and having an ass riping laugh about it, but I couldn't. I still get tears in my eyes from watching this and wondering, who the hell do these guys think they're fooling? And still, if your not convinced, try and search for "make money online" on youtube.
Now what's your opinion?
See results without votingYou will find an endless laughin stock. :D
Sure, call me a criticizing freak if you will, but in my opinion, if you KNOW how to make a hundred dollars a day without doing nothing: First, you WILL do something (more and more of your method untill you're filthy rich); second, you won't teach a single person your tactics; Third, you won't definetly go and make a fool of yourself to the WHOLE WORLD.
Conclusions
Don't follow someone else's ego trip. Don't spend one single dime on hosting, domaining, designing or setting up a mini website.

If there's something I can say is: Instead of filling up a pool you're gonna have to dig and fill up yourself, swim in one that is ready, filled up and is almost yours: Hubpages. If you got something to say, say it here, absolutely for free.
I never meant to take away nobody's hopes, especially because there are people making money online, of course. Except it's not easy, it's not free, and it definetly is time consuming.
Again, take Hubpages for example. There's a lot of full-time mom's who write here. They have usefull things to share, and they do it very well. Here, they have the MEANS to say it. Some even harvest good financial results from doing it (I'm taking their word for it). But there's one thing I'm sure of - at least they're not spending one dime with it.
That's what I had to say, I hope it makes you feel better if you tried and failed, or at least it keeps you from being fooled by a fallacy.
Good luck!

I sincerelly hope you do, and come back to rub in my face how wrong I was! ;)

You are absolutely right on this point where marketers make money even though most of the time they are selling crap..If someone can come to people and tell them they can make thousands and post a few fake pics most people will buy it..
